Australian carrier Qantas finally has begun putting its Airbus A380 superjumbos back into regular service. Airline chief executive Alan Joyce was among 453 passengers on the first A380 flight from Australia to Singapore Sunday morning.

Speaking to members of the press at Sydney Airport, The Qantas CEO told how happy he was that the airline was reintroducing the plane. He added that he felt totally comfortable about the aircraft.

A spokesperson for Rolls-Royce said the Australian airline is valued customer and added that Rolls-Royce was extremely happy that the Qantas A380s were returning to commercial operation. He said the engine maker is working closely with the carrier to make sure A380 operations are safe.

Back on 4 November, a Qantas Airbus A380 had to make an emergency return to Singapore when one of its three Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines blew up shortly after taking off. The blow up rained engine parts and debris down on an Indonesian Island.

The Qantas airliner landed safely at Singapore Airport. There were no injuries on the aircraft or the ground. Qantas recently completed safety checks on the aircraft and last week announced it would put the A380 back into scheduled services.
