Glasgow Airport refutes rumours of charges for drop-offs
Monday, 21st June 2010
Glasgow Airport has issued a statement through a spokesperson, denying reports in the Scotsman that suggested the airport was planning to introduce a £1 charge for use of its vehicle drop-off zone. The Scotsman published a report earlier this month about Edinburgh Airport planning to start charging motorists £1 each time they drop someone off at the terminal. The report said Glasgow Airport was also apparently considering such a charge. Glasgow Airport opened a new permanent drop-off zone close to the terminal last week, the first in a raft of upgrades planned under an investment programme worth £2 million. Upgrades at the airport will focus on improving safety and ease of access for passengers. Use of the new drop-off zone is free for taxis and private vehicles. An airport spokesman said there were no plans to introduce any charge for use of the drop-off zone. The new drop-off zone replaces a temporary drop-off area that was hurriedly arranged as part of security changes forced by a terror attack on the airport in 2007. In that attack, terrorists drove a vehicle loaded with propane canisters into the pedestrian doors of the airport’s international terminal.← Bristol Airport success continues, despite volcanic ash
