Easyjet (the low-cost carrier) has announced its plans this week to offer a new service to Isle of Man from John Lennon Airport, Liverpool. The services between the two will not start until 21 May and will run six days a week, targeting mainly business people and others with family on the island. The carrier said they expect a minimum of 70,000 passengers to use their new Airbus A319 in the first year of operation, which can accommodate up to 156 travelers.
A spokesperson for UK’s largest airline said that they were all pleased to be adding another route on their flight schedule and it is a great one that links Liverpool with the Isle of Man. Many locals have strong family and business connections with the island and this course is expected to be popular. This will now mean that the orange airline will fly to 27 locations, just from Liverpool.
Easyjet has made the news again this week after their launch of the 500th route from Milan to Porto. The airline now flies on 45 of the top European routes and has become the top EU airlines in 15 years. The latest route now means that more than 300 people live within an hour of an airport that Easyjet uses, making them more accessible to the masses. The budget carrier is hoping to grow by 10% this year compared with the new additions of flights and frequency as compared to last year.
