Airbus reports a 25-plane deal with United Airline

Monday, 21st December 2009

Airbus, one of the world’s leading air plane manufacturers, has reported that they have sealed a deal with US based United Airlines for 25 of its latest A350XBW air planes. The deal is reported to be worth over six billion pounds and will greatly benefit the Broughton plant in UK. This plant will manufacture the wings on the air craft and its workers will not face any lay offs. Also, the UK economy will receive a huge boost with the steady running of this manufacturing unit.

The Broughton plant and its chiefs have expressed great happiness at the arrival of the new order from United. The work is due to start early next year. The scheduled completion and delivery date of the airlines is said to be in the year 2016. The reported number of jobs that will be secure is as high as 1,200 people.

The new order has benefitted Airbus enormously as rival airplane manufacturer Boeing have recently managed to pull off a test run on its long awaited carrier, the Dreamliner. The carrier completed its first run from an airfield near Seattle. Boeing however was almost two years behind schedule in the launch of the Dreamliner. The carrier boasts of being lighter and hence more fuel efficient, thus making a difference in protecting our environment. Dreamliners are scheduled to be handed out to airline companies by as soon as the end of next year.

The latest A350 currently boasts of carrying 300 passengers and has a range of 9000 miles. Since the range is higher, there will be fewer stopovers for long distance flights. Also like the Boeing, the new airbuses will be much lighter saving on fuel and manufacturing costs.
