Changi airport holds on to Best Airport title for 22 years

Changi Airport clinches numerous awards

This has been a great year for Singapore's Changi airport, with the facility clinching several high profile travel industry awards.
At the Business Traveller Awards held in London this month, Changi airport won the coveted Best World Airport crown. Changi airport has held on to this title for a record 22 years, since it first won it in 1988. The Business Traveller awards in London are voted for by the readers of the UK version of the magazine.
Changi airport proved just as popular with the magazine's Asia-Pacific readers. The Asia-Pacific Business Traveller Awards also awarded the Best Airport in the World title to the airport, for the 18th consecutive year. The region's voters also labelled Changi airport as the Best Duty Free Shopping Airport in the World. It has held on to this crown for over a decade.
Travel Weekly China, one of the biggest trade publications in China has also dubbed Singapore's Changi Airport as the Best International Airport. The accolade was announced at the publication's China Trade Travel and Meeting Industry Awards this year.
The airport also trumped over a 100 contenders to win the Best Airport Worldwide accolade awarded by the Smart Travel Asia website. The top ranking was the result of a poll conducted by the online magazine.
Smart Travel Asia has said that Changi airport's new terminal, its excellent shopping and beautiful surroundings make the airport a formidable competitor.
Changi's Chief Executive Officer, Lee Seow Hiang has said that he is heartened that the airport continues to win such awards despite growing competition in the operating landscape. He maintains that continuously improving Changi airport's facilities to enhance the Changi experience for travellers remains a top priority for the airport.
