Aviva nominates UK's ten worst car parking spaces
Friday, 25th September 2009
Aviva, Britain's largest insurer recently held a poll to determine the ten worst spaces for car parking in the UK. The UK public were asked to nominate their contenders for the worst parking space they know of.
Over the last month, the British public has sent in a number of nominations for the worst places to park in, and many have come with graphic descriptions of the trials and discomfort drivers endure while parking at these spaces.
The Alton Business Park was high on the list of the most notorious parking spaces, with the public claiming huge difficulty in getting in or out of the space. This space is said to have cars parked too closely together, and has walls blocking two of its sides.
Soho's NCP in Lodon figured prominently- there's just never any space here- and Brighton's NCP Churchill car park was propelled into the list for being infested with posts and barriers that make it difficult for drivers and passengers to open car doors.
Other nightmares places to park, according to the UK public, include Nottingham's Upper Parliament Street car park and the West Street' car park in Blackpool.
Harrogate's Waitrose car park was also nominated, with one member of the public claiming he once had to climb out of the boot to get out of the car. Reportedly, the cars here are parked so tightly that it's almost impossible to open car doors.
The Horsefair car park was nominated for having the most difficult spaces to manouvre in and out of. And the car pack in Hendon, where drivers attempting to parallel park end up causing traffic stops, is another top nominee.
Airport car parks also made it to the list, with parking spaces at Gatwick and Stansted both nominated.
