The work to be carried out will include the massive re-surfacing of 62,000sqm of long stay car park in the silver zone. The reception building there will also undergo a refurbishment as will the customer service and payment areas in the long stay north of the airport.
“Convenient, cost-effective and secure car parking can help get a holiday or business trip off to a good start. By investing over half a million pounds in improving our car parks, we hope to further enhance the airport experience for passengers, providing a parking product to suit all needs and budgets,” said Tom Hack, commercial manager for the ground transportation team.
This is just the first phase of improving airport parking at Bristol and should all be completed next month. In a £150 million expansion scheme, there are plans for a multi storey car park. They will submit plans later this month and it will also include the demolition of the old Lulsgate terminal building and an extension to the current terminal.
A decision will be made in November of this year of whether the plans have been improved. If they are Bristol Airport hope to start work in early 2010.
It was found out earlier this month that Bristol Airport passenger numbers have been fallen since November last year. 350,000 fewer travelers since the start of the year.
