Stay connected wherever you roam

Monday, 25th May 2009

Technology has become such an important part of many people’s lives that we simply can’t imagine how we would ever live without it. This is especially true of our mobile phones. We want to stay connected wherever we are, able to speak to anyone around the globe and always be able to receive calls and messages.

Luckily, when we travel it is possible to stay connected with special roam features provided by our mobile phone network. The only problem is, this service can be pretty expensive, especially if you regularly make overseas calls.

However, there are a number of ways to stay in touch with friends and family while on holiday without having to spend a fortune. Firstly, you can save a fortune by either buying a cheap phone which already has credit on it, or buying a new SIM card for your existing phone. Even though you’ll still be making international calls, simply buying a SIM card in the country you’re visiting and using the free local number provided can save a fortune.

Another great money saving tip is to head on over to the internet café and chat through the web, either by using a text based program such as Windows Live Messenger or a program that allow you to phone and see the person you’re speaking too, such as Skype.

Lastly, taking your laptop on holiday can save a fortune on international calls and messages as many cities have wifi these days, allowing you to connect to friends and family for free.
