Next week, the first of the carrier’s newly-configured aircraft will re-enter service.
Pacific Premium Economy class travel on Air New Zealand offers affordable luxury to international travellers, bridging the gap between travel in business class and economy class, according to the airline.
Customers travelling in Premium Economy are offered the beverages, food and other amenities in the business-class style, and are afforded an additional nine inches of seat recline and additional legroom than is found in the economy cabin.
According to Air New Zealand, the new configuration enhances the passenger experience by more than just the additional room and comfort – it features a self-service bar area as well.
Conde Nast Traveller recently nominated the airline’s Pacific Premium Economy service for their annual “Best Innovation and Design Award”.
Simon Calder, a top travel writer in the UK and an award judge, has praised the Air New Zealand premium-economy offering, saying: “Air New Zealand shows kindness to the masses with its premium economy class, which is 'business-light rather than economy-plus.”
Roger Poulton, the airline’s vice president for the Americas, said: “Pacific Premium Economy has been hugely popular since its introduction in 2005.”
