Airport officials have announced that significant improvements are being made to the airport parking facilities at Birmi

More than £2 million has been set aside to be invested at the Birmingham airport to improving the flow of traffic and parking options for drivers dropping off and collecting passengers at the facility.

One part of the improvements has been completed. The airport's 'drop and go' area has been expanded, now featuring an increased number of 'drop off' spaces for the convenience of passengers.

Any driver who is picking up a passenger is advised to park in the multi-storey facilities available at the airport, or to use the long-stay surface car park, where they can park free for one hour.

Changes to the airport's traffic flow patterns and in parking arrangements have been undertaken in response to the security situation that arose at Glasgow’s airport last year.

Richard Gill, the head of the airport’s market development division has said: "The investment we have made, to the 'drop and go' facility in particular, will help access, safety and speed of dropping people at the airport and we urge drivers to only use the 'drop and go' facility for dropping-off passengers only, and to use the multi-storey car parks for collecting people."
