Parking at Heathrow offers a smooth ride

After years of planning and an investment of £4.3 billion, travellers are justified in their outrage over the many problems experienced at Heathrow Terminal 5 since its opening at the end of March. Flight delays and baggage problems are being resolved, however, and the airport assures travellers that airport parking is now functioning according to plan.

According to two different sources in the industry, “British Airways Holidays is offering passengers up to 60 percent savings on airport parking in the United Kingdom.” The move can only help offset some of the disappointment in what has been a bad start for Heathrow’s newest terminal.

Parking at Heathrow is both convenient and safe. As a result of a report by BBC in 2007, many airport operators, including those at Heathrow, have radically changed the way they do business, implementing many new security features to increase the level of protection offered to cars in their care.

Parkers looking for the highest standards of security for their vehicle should look for companies participating in the Safer Parking Scheme. The Scheme is designed to reduce crime in parking facilities and was started by the Association of Chief Police Officers. Car parks belonging to the scheme must adhere to certain measures to deter crime in the area.
