MP lambasts BAA over hidden info

BAA’s reputation is getting worse and worse by the week. Last week saw four of Heathrow International Airport’s major airlines went to parliament to protest BAA’s rising fees that go beyond anything close to reasonable, and now an MP has spoken out against what he claims are secret plans by the airport governing body to fleece passengers more thoroughly than anyone ever thought possible. Coming on the heels of recent accusations, this does not look good on BAA.

Uxbridge MP John Randall says he found that if BAA is given permission to carry on with its Heathrow expansion, the body plans to charge a £20 fee to cars simply dropping off passengers at the terminal entrance, added to which another £20 fee will be charged for a daily parking fee. Randall says, ‘It is disgraceful that this information was kept out of the consultation document when it is quite clearly crucial in determining how local people will be affected by the planned Heathrow expansion.

This comes on top of recent reports that BAA and the Department for Transport were colluding to try and fix the figures on air and noise pollution. BAA weren't just providing input data for the Government; they were involved in actually looking at how to get over the environmental issues so that the third runway could go ahead.’
