Offest scheme in airport car park

Gaining green credentials in the aviation industry is not a new concept, with many airlines offering carbon offset schemes to passengers that contribute to reforestation projects or alternative energy resources. Now the concept has been taken outside the terminal, into the parking garages of Edinburgh International Airport.

FHR is the travel services company responsible for offering the green option at the Secure AirParks Edinburgh Airport parking facility, having recently become a carbon balanced operation, with their offset credits going to initiatives set up by the World Land Trust. When you park your car at the Airparks Edinburgh Airport car park, you will be contributing to their scheme that offsets all their operational carbon emissions including the shuttle buses to and from the terminal building.

AirParks works with WLT to replant over 50,000 native trees in South American countries such as Paraguay, Brazil and Ecuador. They also sponsor initiatives to prevent more clear-cutting of native forests. Both companies believe that through this partnership they can help play a positive role in reducing the effects of global warming.
