Newquay Airport will be expanding its parking facilities in 2008

The Cornwall County Council recently approved plans to expand the facilities available at Newquay Airport. The proposed developments include the construction of a new arrivals hall, the conversion of the baggage hall into a departures lounge and the expansion of the current airport parking facilities.

The improvements all aim to increase the airport’s current capacity and improve the quality of the services offered to passengers using the airport.

Cornwall County Council’s executive member for the economy, Andrew Mitchell, was enthusiastic about the developments at the airport. "This is great news for Newquay Cornwall Airport and we can now press ahead with our exciting plans to develop the terminal and provide improved facilities for our airline partners and passengers," he said.

He continued: "2008 will be a momentous year with a major investment programme delivering the move to a full civil operation, exciting new routes, new facilities and new capacity, confirming the airport's status as one of Cornwall's most important gateways."

This summer, Newquay Airport plans to offer flights to 24 destinations. Discount airlines Flybe and easyJet both announced new routes from Newquay earlier this year.
