After 50 years, garage is set to retire.The founder of Males Garage and Car-storage at Manchester Airport has decided to retire after more than 50 years at work.
Jack Males, 73, is an ex-paratrooper who opened the garage on Ringway Road in 1954. Over the years, Males has watched the airport grow exponentially to its current capacity of over 22 million people yearly.
The garage, located next to Terminal 3, will close down and begin operation on a new site at the airport. Duncan Johnson, an employee of Males for 15 years, will operate the new business under the name Manchester Airport Valet Parking.
Manchester Airport will use the old site of the garage to expand its apron and extra parking for planes.
