New system installed to increase efficiency and security.London Stansted is now equipped with the efficient and high-security Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, thanks to UK parking systems company APT SkiData.
The technological upgrade is part of a major regeneration project of Standsted Airport, which is the UK's third busiest airport. The mid-stay car park, managed by Meteor Parking, now allows pre-booked customers to have speedier access and a higher level of security. Visitors can book online either on one of Meteor Parking's websites or through several other websites.
Meteor Parking Technical Director Giles Parry said: "Meteor integrated our eparking.uk.com booking solution with the APT SkiData car park system when it was originally installed six years ago, and it has served us very well. Now with the development and proven reliability of new technologies, we are adding ANPR for faster access, and to ensure even greater convenience for our customers."
ANPR technology keeps a tally of the number of vehicles in the car park, controls barriers, and stores photos of vehicles and their license plates. This system is the latest in the parking industry and is seen as a great improvement in security.
