Stansted is considering technological options for parking improvements.Applying new technology to the parking available at Stansted Airport was just one of many topics discussed at a recent transportation forum hosted by Stansted Airport.
The forum brought together more than 100 experts in the field of transportation to discuss how innovation and advancement could be applied in order to solve potential problems in the area of transportation in the future.
A number of speakers presented at the conference last week including representatives from the Institute of Highways and Transportation, the Department for Transport and One Railway.
Airport parking, according to Stansted's managing director Stewart Wingate, could benefit from new technology.
"The future of the airport presents many challenges from many different angles, from the sustainability agenda to the future growth agenda," he said. "What is clear is that technology and innovation have a key role to play in everything we deliver.
"The solar lighting of our road signs and bus stops, the real time information in the short-stay car park and the state-of-the-art material that was used on the roof of our bus and coach station are just some examples of how we are embracing technology to gain many benefits."
Stansted is currently the third busiest airport in the country with more than 24 million passengers using the airport's facilities every year.
