Flat tire? You're on your own

In a move that has angered some and bewildered others, officials at Manchester International Airport have told parking attendants that from now on they are not allowed to give aid to motorists who are having car trouble; giving them a 'push' for example. Nervousness about liability if an attendant were to damage a vehicle is ostensibly the reason for the action, but citizens and campaigners for motorist rights have spoken out at the inhumanity in the rule. One such campaigner is Sean Corker, who operates on behalf of drivers in the northwest of England. 'You always come across the odd jobsworth but you don't often get people ordered by their bosses not to help customers. Their customer service obviously does not extend to those who drive to the airport,' he said. In a recent incident, Paul Ross, a returning traveller who had paid ₤60 to park his car while he was away was told he was on his own, despite not having sufficient cash on him to pay a tow truck. He said, ' All that was needed was a bit of common courtesy. I just wanted to get home. It was an awful situation at the end of a very good holiday.'
