Tube back to normal, for nowThis week was a frustrating one for the thousands of commuters that rely on London's underground tube system. Three unions had planned strikes last week, but it was only one of them, the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union that followed through with their plans to walk off the job and stop service of many important rail links in the London Underground.
2,300 RMT workers left their posts on Monday and created a significant amount of chaos for rail travellers. Though some compromise was reached with Transport of London on Tuesday, safety checks had to be performed and trains shuttled to strategic points before the service cold recommence.
So as commuters take to their normal routines again, there are warnings from the RMT that there could be another three-day strike next week. RMT general secretary Bob Crow explained bluntly that, "The three days of strike action is on next week. Our view is the deal we have got is the best possible but if these people from Transport for London keep on going round and trying to rubbish us then it's their fault if the strike takes place next week again."
