Parking was disrupted at Heathrow Airport on Monday by climate-change demonstrators.

On August 20th, protesters engaged in an anti-climate change campaign at Heathrow Airport blocked an airport parking lot as part of a number of demonstrations at the airport facility. A total of 14 protesters were arrested that day.

An additional 100 protesters continued their demonstration near the parking lot for BAA on Tuesday, causing the airport to ask their staff to work from other offices rather than park at the airport.

A company statement sent out by email reassured the public that operations at the airport 'have not been impacted in any way' by the demonstrations.

The climate-change protests are centered on Heathrow but are part of a broader effort to draw attention to the negative effects of the aviation industry on the environment, particularly where it relates to climate change. Heathrow has been targeted because of its plans for expansion and its desire to add another runway to its facilities.

While the protester's demonstrations have largely affected parking for airport staff, travelers parking at Heathrow should take the demonstrations into account and allow for additional time at the airport before check-in.
