Virgin introduces Rough Guide on flights

Tuesday, 30th August 2005

Richard Branson's airline Virgin Atlantic has announced that it will be featuring Rough Guides on flights as part of its entertainment package.

The travel guides have helped hundreds of travellers find hotels, shops restaurants and attractions in the country that they are visiting.

Of course, it doesn't take a Rough Guide for UK nationals to know that they can easily pre-book their airport parking and accommodation online.

Pre-ordering airport services usually saves time and money, and allows the traveller to arrive at the airport hassle free.

'Together, we are bringing the best most accurate travel content available in the world to the Virgin Atlantic flier via cutting-edge inflight technology,' said Geoff Colquitt, marketing director for Rough Guides in North America.

The guides will be available on the airline's inflight entertainment system v:port which offers audio and video-on-demand, seatback text messaging, multiplayer games, language courses and relaxation programming.

The Rough Guides are currently available on three aircraft and will be rolled out across the other aircraft during August and September 2005.

Virgin flies from London Gatwick, London Heathrow and Manchester, and ample parking is available at all of these airports.
