Fly Scotland-Geneva with easyjet

Wednesday, 17th August 2005

The low-cost carrier easyjet has announced that it will be commencing a new service from the Scottish airport of Edinburgh to Geneva.

Starting in September, the news has been widely welcomed by the Scottish Executive, who hopes that it will boost the tourist industry in Scotland, as well as leading to better airport services such as hotels, shops and airport car parking.

'This is good news for Scotland. All year round air links between Edinburgh and Geneva will provide better business opportunities between Scotland and the centre of Europe,' said Transport Minister Tavish Scott.

The Geneva route will use an Airbus 319 aircraft with 156 seats.

The new route has been aided by the Executive's Route Development Fund, and Mary McLaughlin, director of transport at Scottish Enterprise, said that the 'daily, year-round service to Geneva in Switzerland, will be of great benefit to businesses in Scotland, especially within the banking and financial services community.'

Edinburgh Airport currently provides ample car parking for customers on five levels and incorporates a fast, convenient two hour zone on the ground floor.

Customers wishing to pre-book airport car parking can easily do so online.
