Low-cost flights from Belfast

Monday, 15th August 2005

The Belfast Telegraph has leaked details of a group of Ulster entrepreneurs that is planning to launch a new low-cost airline based in Northern Ireland.

Belfast Airport boasts excellent airport facilities, with 8000 car parking spaces just outside the terminal entrance and the airport car parking can be pre-booked online.

The plans have not yet been announced as the group is rumoured to have signed a confidentiality agreement, prohibiting them from talking publicly about the plans. However a source has leaked some information regarding the plans to the newspaper and it is thought financial backing for the project has been secured and that aircraft for the service have also been attained.

Belfast International is thought to be the most likely home for the carrier, as it already provides other low-cost carriers and Belfast's other airport, Belfast City, concentrates on more traditional airlines.

The Airport is conveniently situated just 20 minutes from Belfast city centre by car and reserved and unlimited parking is available for frequent flyers at the 24 hours a day manned car parks.

The report also stated that the new carrier will also provide flights to Europe from a base in Dublin.
