Ryanair looking for 50% fleet growth

Monday, 8th August 2005

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary has announced that Ryanair aims to double the size of its fleet in the next five years, making UK airports even busier.

One of the main reasons attributed to the move is thought to be rival budget carrier Germanwings' announcement that it will increase operations from Hamburg.

Germanwings announced last year that it had overtaken Ryanair as the number one budget carrier in Germany.

Frequent airport customers may realise that it can be easier to pre-book airport services such as car parking beforehand. With instant on-line booking, pre-paying is often cheaper and quicker than paying at the airport.

Ryanair is thought to have spent £1 billion on its fleet replacement programme and now this is almost completed, shareholders are keen to know what the future holds in terms of dividends.

Looking forward for airport customers, increased traffic levels at UK airports might mean a rise in demand for airport facilities, and customers might like to plan their car parking and in advance.
