Monarch reports passenger increases

Wednesday, 3rd August 2005

Budget carrier Monarch Scheduled has announced a 46 per cent increase in passenger traffic for the month of July, compared to the same time last year, with busier airports suggesting that customers should plan airport services, such as car parking, in advance.

The airline flew 282,726 passengers to various destinations last month, which represents the number of earned seats flown by Monarch Scheduled, compared to 193,819 last year.

Nearly double the traffic could mean half the spaces at the car park, and booking car parking in advance should guarantee customers a space, making the airport experience more hassle-free.

Growing demand from airport customers led to the airline announcing last week that it would be flying its 11th flight from Manchester, with three weekly scheduled flights to Menorca, starting from next March. Customers wishing to book these flights and car parking can go online and make all travel arrangements in one go.

In addition to the Menorca service, flights to Malaga from Aberdeen and Blackpool will start in November
