About 1.5 million passengers travel through Southampton International Airport every year. The airport serves more than 40 destinations throughout the UK and beyond. Fourteen airlines including major carriers such as British Airways and Air France operate at Southampton Airport. The airport is composed of one efficient and modern terminal that serves as a gateway to central southern England.

Terminals Check-In and Arrival at Southampton Airport

One terminal handles both arrivals and departures. Arrivals is positioned on the right side of the main concourse. Check-in desks are on the left hand side of the main concourse, while Departures is located behind the check-in desks and Baggage Claim is to the right of Departures. Arrivals and Departures are located on the ground floor; the first floor merely consists of the International Departures Lounge and the Aura Café. ATMs and a money exchange booth are situated on the main concourse before security. A post box is located immediately outside the terminal.

Shopping, eating and business facilities at Southampton

Travellers will find a duty-free store after they pass through passport control. There is also a WH Smith which sells a variety of products including gifts, books and snacks located before security. In Arrivals, there's a bar and a self-service restaurant. The Aura Café is located on the first floor, near the International Departures Lounge. Other facilities include a baby care room on the main concourse and a first-aid room near the Arrivals exit.

Southampton Airport offers a conference centre that can be reserved in advance. The centre has a variety of presentation equipment available. There are also internet services available in Departures.

Short-term parking is recommended for stays of up to 5 hours. The short-term facility is situated adjacent to the terminal. Long-term parking is linked to to the terminal via a courtesy shuttle bus that runs every 10 to 12 minutes. You can reserve a space in the Long-Term Car Park in advance by pre-booking online. Disabled parking is available in both car parks.

Getting into the city of Southampton

Southampton Airport boasts the shortest plane to train connection in Europe, with the Southampton Parkway Station located at the terminal. The rail station has up to three trains an hour to London Waterloo and quick connections to many other destinations. Southampton is six miles from the airport, making it inexpensive to take a taxi into town. Taxis are provided by Airportcarz Southampton, which has a counter located on the main concourse, opposite Arrivals, and they operate 24 hours a day. Call: +44 870 224 5000 to book a taxi in advance. Bus number 101 runs between the airport, Southampton University and the city centre. It runs up to two services an hour during term time. Solent Blue Line and Uni Link also offer bus services and can be taken from Southampton Parkway Station.
