Parking and drop off at Prestwick
Glasgow Prestwick Airport's short-stay, medium-stay and long-stay car parking options are divided among five separate buildings. Short-stay parking is situated closest to the terminal and the first 10 minutes of parking here are free for drop-off and pick-up purposes. Courtesy shuttles link the terminal and the medium-stay car parks, where daily rates apply. The long-stay facility is recommended for those planning to stay 5 or more days. A short bus ride carries passengers to the terminal. Upon entry to each car park, the driver receives a ticket and payment is made on exit at the barrier for the Long-Stay Car Park, while those parking in the Short-Stay and Medium-Stay car parks can pay at the pay station located near the terminal exit. All five buildings offer designated parking spaces for disabled persons.
Getting into the city of Glasgow
Ayr Black Taxis are the primary taxi provider at the airport and can be chartered outside the terminal at all hours or booked in advance. Plenty of public transport options are also available. The X77 and the X99 buses leave for the city centre on the half hour, alternating day and night respectively. These routes also service the Buchanan Bus Station for nationwide travel. A few minutes' walk on a covered walkway leads to the airport's train station, where trains depart every half hour (every hour on Sundays) to Glasgow Central Station, with some direct services to other UK destinations.
