Terminals Check-In and Arrival at Newcastle Airport

Newcastle's single terminal is well designed with easy access to the check-in desks on the ground floor and Departures situated on the first floor. Three moneychangers and a host of ATMs are spread throughout the building on both floors. Postal, left luggage and lost property services as well as a prayer room, baby-changing stations and a children's play area are also provided. Six reputable car rental companies including Avis and Hertz are represented near to the Domestic Arrivals exit. Disabled services meet with European standards and a helpful airport Information Desk is located on the ground floor next to a 24-hour tourist information service.

Shopping, eating and business facilities at Newcastle

Business travellers will find an extensive array of services such as telephone and fax facilities at the business centre on the first floor. Newcastle International Airport also has two business class lounges, including the British Airways Lounge and Cheviot Executive Lounge, located in the Departures area.

There are many popular UK high street shops on both sides of security. WH Smith has three outlets in the terminal and a Boots is located on the first floor. Passengers leaving the European Union can choose from extensive duty-free items in the Departures Lounge.

Parking and drop off at Newcastle

Several parking options are available at the airport; all have excellent 24-hour security. The drop-off car park is conveniently located within easy walking distance of the terminal and is ideal for drop-offs and pick-ups. For stays of one day or less, the Short-Stay Car Park is the best choice. It is within walking distance of the terminal and charges are levied for the first 30 minutes, then by the hour or day thereafter. The Long-Stay Car Park is designed for travellers staying longer than 4 days. This car park is open and monitored 24 hours a day and shuttle buses to the terminal are provided. The Long-Stay Car Park is often full, so it is advised that you pre-book online. Disabled drivers have designated spaces at all of the car parks.

Getting into the city of Newcastle

Newcastle's Metro system connects the airport with Newcastle Central Station and Gateshead, with trains running every 7 minutes during the day. Buses also run regularly to Eldon Square Bus Concourse in the city centre, leaving every 20 minutes from the airport. National Express coaches directly serve Newcastle and many other UK destinations. Taxis are available outside the terminal as are limousine services.
