East Midlands Airport is located in the middle of England, 13 miles southwest of Nottingham, 11 miles southeast of Derby and 19 miles northwest of Leicester. The airport has only one terminal and it operates 30 scheduled flights to and from destinations throughout Europe. The airport welcomes almost 2.5 million passengers every year. Departures is situated on the first floor and Arrivals is located on the ground floor. Recently, the terminal has been renovated and improved, and now East Midlands Airport (EMA) boasts good passenger facilities, with everything from two bureaux de change, ATM machines, a lost property service, children's play areas and a video game zone to a food hall and a wide array of shops.
Terminals Check-In and Arrival at East Midlands Airport
The single terminal serves both domestic and international flights. The first floor of the terminal handles domestic flights, while the ground floor handles arrivals. The terminal has excellent amenities. Open 24 hours, the Information Desk can be found in the main terminal building and it offers business facilities for a small fee. Short-term, medium-term and long-term car parks are located at short distances from the terminal building.
Shopping, eating and business facilities at East Midlands
The facilities for passengers at East Midlands Airport are excellent and have significantly improved since recent renovations. A good variety of food, snacks and refreshments is available in the food hall, which is situated on the first floor of the terminal. A traditional British pub can also be found here. Numerous shops, including a big duty-free outlet offering a wide array of items, are situated in the main terminal and in the International Departures Lounge.
Business facilities can be found at the Information Desk in the main terminal and for a small fee you may use the fax and photocopy facilities. The Diamond Club Lounge and the Euroclass Lounge are operated by British Midland and they provide business class passengers and Diamond Club members with internet access and photocopying facilities.
Parking and drop off at Nottingham East Midlands
The Short-Term Car Park is situated close to the terminal and parking fees can be paid by credit card or cash at the pay stations. Medium-stay parking for up to 4 days is located a short walk away from the terminal. A short distance from the airport grounds lies the Long-Term Car Park. Frequent courtesy buses provide transport between the medium-stay and long-stay car parks and the terminal. The airport has parking space for 1,400 vehicles. It is recommended that you reserve long-stay parking in advance online; online booking can reduce parking costs considerably.
Getting into the city of Nottingham
East Midlands Airport lies within easy reach of several major Midland's cities. Coach services operate between East Midlands Airport and Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Coventry, Warwick, Heathrow and Gatwick international airports. Available from outside the main Arrivals area are buses running to Nottingham, Derby and Leicester. There's a direct shuttle bus link between the airport and Long Eaton and Loughborough train stations, from where you can continue your journey via local or intercity trains to cities throughout Great Britain. The Taxi Office located outside the Arrivals area offers taxis 24 hours a day. Reaching nearby cities by car is easy because of the airport's close proximity to the M1 motorway.
